summer 2025 at Sellanrå invitation

Having enjoyed several uncharacteristically sunny months in the Nordics, one may forget that summer has yet to arrive. With long summer days ahead of us, so too are forest walks, mackerel hauls, roadside berry feasts, warm twilight dinners, morning swims, existentialist discussions, and twilight dance parties. More importantly, it is nearly time for work.

To keep Sellanrå the seaside farm haven we love, some routine maintenance is necessary and we need your help. We are calling on all those who don’t mind a bit of woodchopping, house painting and furniture mending between the sunning and swimming. We would aim for 3-4 hours of work a day split between the morning and afternoon and the rest of the time is yours to explore the farm, the island, friendships with others, and yourself.

Ora et Labora will take place between the 1st and 14th of August and you can stay for as many or few days as you’d like as it fits your summer schedule. Sellanrå is located in Arnavik on the island of Halsnøy, an enjoyable ferry-ride away from Bergen. We have at least eight beds and infinite space for those who would like to sleep in our barns, smokehouses or fields.

To cover bulk food and electricity, we would ask for a small contribution of 10 EUR per person for each day of your stay. If this does not work for you, we are happy to discuss other options because we want Sellanrå to be accessible to everyone.
